One of the highlights of our trip was the Kenwood House in Hampstead Heath. This former 17th century stately home is now a museum managed by the English Heritage. It is open to the public with free admission. I have always wanted to visit the Kenwood House so I made sure that we get to do it this time.
I thought the exterior looked grandiose albeit a little austere. I am sure that it looks glorious and colorful in the spring and summer – you know, flowers and sunshine-y days 😛
The tall ionic porticos gave the impression that this was and still is a home of importance. The interior, on the other hand, was just breathtaking! The intricately designed ceilings and walls, impeccable furniture, ornate floors, and the overall design in every room showed the opulence of the Georgian era.

Kenwood also has an impressive collection of artworks from Rembrandt, Vermeer, Franz Hals, to Thomas Gainsborough.

Last but not the least, the library at Kenwood, although small, is still impressive and drool-worthy.
